Happy New Year from The Dellutri Law Group
January Book Drive

In January The Dellutri Law Group will be holding a Book Drive to collect used books for those who would love them as much as we have loved them. We call them, "pre-loved" books. The books will be donated to Grace Community Church Thrift Store. Each of us can easily say that we have at least one children's book, cook book, or any other type of book that is sitting around collecting dust. The books that are donated can be passed on, read again, and enjoyed just as much by someone else. We will have labeled bins set up in our office for anyone who would like to participate in our book drive. Any "pre-loved" books that you might have lying around or don't read anymore will be greatly appreciated. As an incentive, anyone who brings in any books to donate will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a special prize as a token of our appreciation for your kindness.

Annette Giardina Haber, Esquire, of the Dellutri Law Group. P.A. has been recognized as "Affiliate of the Year" during the 2011 Award ceremony presented by the Cape Coral Association of Realtors on December 1st at Tarpon Pointe Marina. The 2011 Affiliate of the Year Award was presented to Ms. Haber for her invaluable service, support and participation in the Affiliate Committee and ongoing education of the Realtor members. The Award recognizes Ms. Haber for her contributions and dedication to promote and support Association Activities that directly benefit both the Realtor profession and the services they provide to the general public. Professional services provided by the Cape Coral Association of Realtors Affiliate Members are an essential part of all Realtors' day-to-day business. The Affiliate of the Year Award is given to an outstanding Affiliate that has given their time and talents over the past year to further advance the goals of the Association through their outstanding volunteer work in the Association and through out our community.

Ms. Haber has been a practicing attorney in our area for over 6 years. She graduated from Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. Upon returning to Cape Coral, she began her practice with a local firm concentrating in the areas of real property law; real estate transactions to include drafting contracts; handling residential and commercial closings; issuing title insurance; residential and commercial lending; and corporate and business law. In order to stay current with the changes and needs in the economy and real estate market, she expanded her practice in 2007 to include providing some clarity and direction by counseling clients on available loss mitigation options such as Loan Modifications, Short Sales, Deeds-in-Lieu of Foreclosure and Foreclosure Settlements. In August, 2010, Ms. Haber welcomed the opportunity and joined the Dellutri Law Group to manage the Cape Coral office and also run the Firm's Real Estate Department. She is extremely passionate about her work and concentrates the majority of her practice in representing clients through loss mitigation options with a specialization in the residential short sale process for both primary residences and investment properties, and commercial short sales. She also continues the practice of drafting real estate contracts; issuing title insurance; and handling residential and complex commercial closings.

Ms. Haber has been a member of the Cape Coral Association of Realtors since 2006 and is also a member of the Women's Council of Realtors. She frequently lectures on the constant changing trends in the short sale processes; the governmental options available under the Making Home Affordable Program, Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) and Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternative (HAFA); and real estate contract issues and revisions.

I began working at The Dellutri Law Group in September of 2010. My first position was in the Chapter 7 department processing files for creditor meetings. My first day working here I learned so much about bankruptcy in a few short hours. Ronnie showed me a file and I immediately began processing the file for an upcoming 341 meeting of creditors. In the year I have been at The Dellutri Law Group I have also worked at the document drop off desk answering client's questions and helping with anything else the attorneys needed. I am currently working in the Chapter 13 department assisting the Attorneys with preparing cases for confirmation.

I recently graduated from Edison State College with my Associate of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies. I am so happy that I have been able to work for Carmen and the other attorneys at The Dellutri Law Group while I have finished my paralegal degree. I could not imagine a better group of attorneys to work with as a Paralegal. I enjoy coming to work every day and working with everyone in the office to help make a difference in our client's lives. I love that The Dellutri Law Group is so involved in the community and that my fiancé and I can participate in a variety of community service projects with the group. I look forward to many more years with The Dellutri Law Group Family.

  Setting Financial Goals for 2012

With each New Year, we have another opportunity to make a New Year's Resolution.

I am not a big believer in resolutions. Why wait until the beginning of a new year to change your life for the better? This year I want each and every one of you to set two Financial Goals. First, I want you to start to educate yourself on what it is going to take to get you to retirement. This is going to be scary, but you will thank me later. I want you to read one article on personal finance a week. This is an easy goal, and it will get you thinking differently.

Second, I want you to start saving money. I don't care if your goal is to save $1.00 per week for 52 weeks. If that is all that you want, I don't think you will have any problem achieving that goal. I do hope that everyone reading this will be a little bit more ambitious and shoot for a higher goal.

If your company offers a 401k, please consider putting more money into your retirement account. You can request that your employer withhold an additional 1% from each paycheck. This will usually be such a small amount that you will not even miss the money. Then next year, you can increase it by another 1%. The benefits of saving far outweigh the pain of saving.

If your employer does not offer a 401k plan, you may want to look into opening your own IRA or a Roth IRA. Although I am not a financial planner, I do know that saving money before retirement is better than not saving money for retirement. Please don't wait for next year or until you get a raise or for the economy to get better. Start today and begin to bank on yourself, the only real investment you can count on. Remember, no one cares what type of retirement you have - except you. If you choose to start today, you will enjoy the benefits of your foresight, hopefully on a beach somewhere.

New Faces of The Firm

Becky

Rebecca Jaffers
I have been a Paralegal since 1983. I began working in the legal field with  two attorneys in Fairfax, Virginia who specialized in traffic, criminal, domestic, personal injury and malpractice law.  I managed the entire office and all clientele for the firm. In 2000 my husband & I formed two construction companies.  We were building residential homes and commercial office buildings.  We finally decided to moved from Northern Virginia and make our permanent residence in Nags Head, North Carolina so that we could be more hands on with our companies. My husband and I always wanted to move to Florida, so we bought a home in the area a few years ago with the hopes that one day we could move down permanently.  It was always my desire to continue in some type of law field so when I was offered a position with the Dellutri Law Groupas a Paralegal & Assistant Account Controller I jumped at the opportunity. I look forward to all the new things to come here in Florida and with Dellutri Law Group.

Toys for Tots Outcome

 Toys for Tots

The Dellutri Law Group is proud to announce that with the help of our friends of the firm, we were able to collect 174 toys for the Toys for Tots program. We are so happy with the amount of people who came in and donated toys. Our tree went from completely empty, to nearly filling up all of the walking space in our main lobby. We truly appreciate everyone who participated. We look forward to raising even more toys for Christmas in 2012.

Fun and Easy Recipe of the Month

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-bone) rack of pork (5 1/2 to 6 1/2 pounds), chine bone cut off
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 small fresh arbol chiles, thinly sliced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 1/2 pounds medium Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut, into 1/4-inch wedges
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt.

Instructions

Place pork in an 11-x7-inch baking dish. Combine 1/2 cup vinegar, 2 tablespoons oil and chiles, drizzle over pork; marinate at room temperature for 3 hours, turning occasionally. Pour off marinade, reserving 1/4 cup.

Heat oven to 350° with rack in middle.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add remaining 2 tablespoons vinegar and potatoes; boil for 3 minutes, then drain potatoes and toss with remaining 2 tablespoons oil.

Whisk together reserved marinade and wine.

Transfer pork to a 10- x 14-inch roasting pan and rub with salt; roast for 30 minutes, then baste with marinade mixture. Add potatoes to pan in a single layer and continue to roast, basting every 20 minutes, until an instant-read thermometer inserted into center of meat (do not touch bone) registers 150°, about 1 hour more. Let roast rest 15 minutes, then cut between ribs into chops and serve with pan juices and potatoes.
