A Note From Carmen
  BUZZ

How do you determine a person's character? It is often said that a person's character is determined by their response to adversity. I like to think that a person's character is always under construction.

When presented with a problem, can

a person admit that they are wrong,

accept the consequences of their

mistake, learn from it and do better the

next time? The reason I bring this

up is because of a letter I recently

received from a viewer of the Consumer Protection Program (Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. on Comcast, Channel 14).

The letter asked if I thought that I was omnipotent or was I just narcissistic because I offer consumers practical advice on a weekly television show. This letter was questioning my motives about doing the show as well as my character. Although the letter didn't state that I gave wrong advice, it was implied.

The answer is neither. I am not omnipotent, just ask my wife, nor am I narcissistic. I have made mistakes in the past, there is no doubt about that. But, I learned at a very early age that there is nothing wrong with making mistakes, it happens to everyone. You obviously hope no one is hurt, financially or emotionally, by your mistakes.

Think about this: If more people spent their time learning from their mistakes and dealing with the mistake, they would spend less time denying that they made a mistake.

Employee Spotlight:
Frank Fedorzyck

I have been working for the Dellutri Law Group since May of 2008. The first day I began working here, I knew that the Dellutri Law Group was unlike any other business because of the family, friendship, teamwork, and camaraderie .

Mr. Dellutri is a brilliant man and when he combines his knowledge with his true and honest caring for everyone around him, he really makes great things happen.

Since I started working here, I have seen the firm grow tremendously but it continues to have the same family feel that has always existed. I am proud to be a part of that. I started working here as an assistant, sending out emails and mail, now I take care of all of the Chapter 13 files in preparation for the 341 meetings. I send the information to the trustees, scan all of the documentation, and prep the files for our attorneys. On top of that, whenever there is a maintenance or building issue, I do what I can to fix the problem. My partner in that task, Jeff Lampley, is away at law school so the duty has become solely mine now.

Overall, working for the Dellutri Law Group is amazing and something I can say I'm proud to be a part of.

Florida Car Accident Attorney
Surviving the Worst-Case Scenarios

Do you know what to do if your car catches fire after a Florida car accident or how to stop your car in the case of sudden acceleration? While these are some of the most dangerous situations that can happen behind the wheel, as Florida Personal Injury Attorneys, we understand that no one can predict when a tragic Florida car accident may occur.

This post offers a few helpful survival tips.

Break failure: Total brake failure happens rarely, but it can be a terrifying and dangerous experience nonetheless.

  •  Shift into a lower gear if your car has an automatic transmission; downshift if it has a manual.
  •  Apply the emergency brake.
  •  Steer to the side of the road.
  •  Switch off the engine.

Car fire: Car fires can be caused by a number of issues, including a car defect or a serious car accident. Here's what to do if it happens to you.

  •  Get onto the shoulder or into the breakdown lane as quickly as possible.
  •  Shut off the engine.
  •  Get yourself and all passengers far away from the fire and warn bystanders to keep clear.
  •  Try to warn oncoming traffic.
  •  Do not try to put out the fire yourself. With any fire, there's a possibility that the fuel in the vehicle's tank might ignite.
  •  Call 911.

Sudden acceleration: On rare occasions and for various reasons, a car can accelerate by itself. But the solution is always the same.

  •  Apply the brakes firmly; don't lift your foot from the brake pedal.
  •  Shift to Neutral.
  •  Steer to the side of the road.
  •  Switch off the engine, then shift into Park.

Once again this year our office is an official drop off location for Toys For Tots. If you have toys that you would like to donate, please feel free to stop by and drop them off under our Christmas tree in anyone of our offices . The gifts must be new and must remain unwrapped. The deadline to donate toys is December 11th. All of the toys must be dropped off in our office by then in order for them to be picked up in time. Every individual toy helps and there is no gift too small.

In addition, as an incentive to everyone who brings in a toy to donate to The Toys for Tots program, your name will be entered into a drawing to win a special Christmas Treat from The Dellutri Law Group. It is our way of saying Thank You to our friends of the Firm.

Don't Forget About The Time Change

On Sunday, November 6 at 2 a.m., Daylight Saving Time ends in the United States.

The phrase "Spring forward, Fall back" helps people remember how Daylight Savings Time affects their clocks. At 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March, we set our clocks forward one hour ahead of Standard Time ("Spring forward," even though Spring doesn't begin until late March, over a week after the start of Daylight Saving Time). We "Fall back" at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November by setting our clock back one hour and thus returning to Standard Time.

Recipe of the Month Spicy Chicken with Olives

Ingredients

  •  Extra-virgin olive oil
  •  2 (3 1/2 to 4-pound) whole chickens, backbone removed and flattened by the butcher
  •  2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  •  2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
  •  2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh marjoram, oregano or sage
  •  1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
  •  1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  •  Coarse sea salt
  •  1 cup pitted green and black olives
  •  1 cup dry white wine

Instructions

Position rack in upper third of oven; preheat to 425°. Lightly grease 1 large roasting pan or 2 baking dishes with oil. Put chickens, skin-side up, into pan.

In a small bowl, stir together mustard, black pepper, marjoram, rosemary and red pepper flakes. Spread mustard mixture over chickens, distributing mixture evenly; season with salt. Drizzle each chicken with 1 teaspoon oil.

Bake chickens for 20 minutes. Sprinkle olives over chickens, add wine to pan and continue baking until skin is golden and chicken is cooked through, 30 to 35 minutes more. Transfer pan to a wire rack and let chickens rest for 5 minutes, spooning juices over the top. Serve with juices.
