Under the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, there are certain times when anyone trying to collect a debt is not allowed to contact you. Debt collectors are not allowed to call you before 8am or after 9pm. If you’re getting calls before 8am or after 9pm, keep track of when you’re getting these calls. Write down who is calling you, when they call you and what they say to you on that call. The Fair Debt Collections Act also makes it illegal to call outside those times, but this only applies to an entity that is only a debt collector.
