Who Can Debt Collectors Contact?

Often times, this is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act if it a debt collector calling or potentially a violation of the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act if it’s the original creditor. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act allows a debt collector to call a third party only to find contact information about you. However, I believe that when a debt collector calls your neighbor, they’re doing it with the intent to harass you. Once a debt collector contacts you by phone or mails a letter to your house, any subsequent attempts to contact your neighbors or family members are violations of this act. Learn more in the video.
