Dellutri Law Group's Maria Cartagena Picks Children's Advocacy Center of South West Florida for Passion Project

Maria Cartagena: Legal Assistant - Passion Project: Children’s Advocacy Center of SW Florida, Inc.

Maria has a heart of gold, especially for children. Part of that comes from her good-natured heart, and the other part from her past before working for Dellutri Law Group. She is originally from New York City. In New York, she worked for the New York City Family Court System in all five boroughs. Being the kind person she is, she can still remember her caseload from New York and the details of the heart-wrenching cases she had to conduct. The worst part for her was that the system often failed the children whom they were supposed to be protecting. This was a hard pill to swallow for Maria.

Thankfully, this is what interested Maria in The Children’s Advocacy Center of SW Florida (CAC). They are one of the largest children’s advocacy centers in the state of Florida. They are also accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. The CAC provides abuse and therapeutic counseling, parenting education, and prevention programs to children and families in Lee, Hendry Glades, and Charlotte Counties.

Home is the foundation of a young person’s life; therefore, she wants to be a beacon in her community to help them through their own struggles. Maria believes there is so much going on in a community and volunteering is the gasoline to its engine. She hopes that she can impact as many young lives as possible through her efforts with this organization. She has put her best effort forward and knows, as she puts it, “it takes an entire village to rear a child”.
